Depending on location, Trade-in submissions shipped via U.S. Postal Service Media Mail may take up to 10 business days to arrive before your submission is processed. Trade-in submissions shipped via UPS Ground may take up to 6 business days to arrive before your submission is processed. The packages you sent can be tracked anytime in Your Trade-in Account.
When I sell my books, what condition do they need to be in?Once your item is received and verified, you'll receive an e-mail notification within 2 business days informing you whether your items were accepted or rejected. You can find the status of your trade-in anytime in Your Trade-in Account. Once your trade-in has been paid, you'll see the amount when viewing your gift card balance.
In general, the books you wish to sell must be in at least good condition and the ISBN must exactly match what is displayed on the website. You can find the full condition descriptions by visiting our Textbooks Condition Criteria page.
What do I do if I lost my shipping label?
You can print a shipping label at any time by going to Your Trade-in Account and clicking the Print Shipping Label button on the trade-in order.
Can I trade-in a book I rented on Amazon?If you have multiple packages or other shipping questions check out our Packing and Shipping instructions.
No, if you rented a book on Amazon, please return it by going to Your Account on Amazon.com and selecting Your Textbook Rentals to view your rental library. From there you can select the textbook(s) you wish to return and print a prepaid return shipping label.
Can I trade-in a book that isn't listed in the Trade-In Store?
When selling your books, if there's a specific book you'd like to trade-in, first search by title, author, keyword or ISBN(s) for it. If it is not listed then we currently do not have an offer for it and you can choose to sell the book yourself on the Amazon Marketplace. The trade-in program is also constantly updated with new titles, so check back regularly.
Do you guarantee the trade-in price listed on your website?
Yes, if your trade-in is postmarked within 7 calendar days of submission and the item meets or exceeds the product eligibility criteria.
Who do I contact with questions about my trade-in?If the book you want to sell is found not to be in good condition, or is the wrong ISBN, your account will not be credited and the item will be returned to the addresses you select when creating your trade-in.
The most recent status of your trade-in is available online anytime in Your Trade-in Account.
I traded in a book I rented on Amazon. What do I do now?If you need help submitting the books you want to sell, you can contact Amazon Customer Service via phone, chat, or e-mail by clicking the Contact Us button on any Help page.
A textbook rented on Amazon may not be traded in through the Amazon Trade-In program unless you have first purchased it. For information on how to purchase your rental textbook, click here. If you have traded in a rented textbook without first purchasing it, you will be charged the same fees as a rental textbook that is not returned. Of course, do take note that if your book falls below the certain guidelines set by Amazon for a book to be considered as "in good condition”, then it is likely that you will not be able to sell it to the book buyback program. And that includes stuff like book rips, markings and water damage etc..
